Welcome to the tutorial on how to create large print music.
00:04 |
We will show how you can create large music prints with the LargePrintMusic software.
00:09 |
To start you press NEW to create a new file.
00:13 |
Then you open the PDF file which contains the music you want to enlarge.
00:18 |
In the first step the software will detect the staffs inside the music. They are shown with colored rectangles.
00:24 |
Always check if these are detected correctly and adjust them if necessary. In this case the result is fully correct and we will continue.
00:47 |
In the next step the software will detect the measures inside the staffs.
00:52 |
Also these need to be checked for errors. In another tutorial we will show how to remove and add staffs and measures. This detection is fully correct so we will continue.
01:04 |
In the next step you can specify repeats and jumps like Da Capo and Del Segno. We will show this in detail in a seperate tutorial and skip it now.
01:14 |
Now you can set the output settings. These determine the actual result. So with these settings you setup the actual size and way the measures are displayed.
01:27 |
In this case we will leave it to default settings. In another tutorial we will explain settings in detail.
01:35 |
After continuing you see a preview of the result. If the preview is not right then go one or more steps back to adjust. Otherwise go to the next step and save the result to a PDF file.
01:48 |
This PDF file can then be viewed any way you like. You can print it to paper or read it on a tablet or screen. So you can read any sheet music in any size you want. We encourage you to try this with your own sheet music and let us know if you need any assistance.

00:00 |
In this tutorial we will explain you the output settings of LargePrintMusic.
00:05 |
First we will start with the Staff Margin Top and Bottom. These are located under Input.
00:14 |
These two determine how much is included above and below the actual staff. With many high notes this means a large area above and with low a large area below the staff.
00:30 |
We will show an example preview. Here you see that too much is included below and too little above.
00:43 |
We go back and adjust the settings to fix this.
00:49 |
We increase the space above the staff.
00:56 |
And decrease the space below the staff.
01:02 |
In the preview we see that the spaces above and below are now suffecient.
01:15 |
Please be aware it's normal to have some noise at the end of the areas. If you try to remove it then please be sure no notes are cut off. It's better to have some noise then having notes being cut off.
01:32 |
We now continue with the starting and ending measures. Here you determine which range of measures to include.
01:41 |
As an example we will only include 20 measures.
01:47 |
In the preview you now see only the measures in the selected range.
02:00 |
Now we will continue with the Output settings.
02:05 |
The first two settings determine the Staffs per page and the number of measures per staff. This determines the resulting size.
02:15 |
In this case we see 3 staffs per page.
02:20 |
The 6 measures it shows is the target number. Differences in measure width can cause the actual count to range. This range is also shown.
02:34 |
In the preview window we see this result. We see 3 staffs and on avarage 6 measures.
02:48 |
Now we change the numbers, we reduce the staffs per page and the measure per staff.
02:59 |
You can now see this increases the size of the actual result in the preview.
03:07 |
So with adjusting these numbers you can alter the result.
03:12 |
Now we will show you how Invert Colors changes the result.
03:22 |
It inverts the colors, so the background becomes black and the staffs become white. This can be helpful for some types of sight impairness.
03:38 |
The last setting we will show you is title setting.
03:46 |
This title is put on top of every page generated. So this makes it easy to recognize the page.
03:56 |
Our file is ready and we can now save it.

The detections of staffs in LargePrintMusic detects the large majority of staffs. It's however still wise to always check the staffs, especially with low quality or scanned files.
00:14 |
It can happen that LargePrintMusic detected something that is not a staff. In that case you can remove it by pressing the staff for a few seconds, it will then disappear.
00:29 |
Also the detection might have missed a staff. In that case click one of the corners and click again on the opposite corner. A rectangle is drawn and you added a staff.
00:50 |
We will now continue to the measure detection.
00:54 |
The measure detection can also contain a few errors which need to be corrected.
01:03 |
It can for example happen that there is a line detected that is not a measure line. In that case click the line and it will disappear.
01:15 |
Also it can have missed some lines. In that case click on that location and the line will appear.
01:27 |
After you have corrected everything you can continue with the next steps.

How to edit repeats in LargePrintMusic.

With enlarged sheet music repeats can cause problems due to the large number of pages. You can't turn back or forward that fast.
00:10 |
To solve this you can eliminate repeats and let LargePrintMusic repeat the range of measures.
00:18 |
This can be specified in the Repeats step of LargePrintMusic.
00:25 |
In this step you define the jumps you have in the sheet music.
00:31 |
In this example you have 2 repeats, which are jump from measure 5 to 1 and from 10 to 6. This is entered by pressing on these measures. You see a jump is added on the left.
00:51 |
This example also has a DC which a jump from 52 to 1. We will define this one also.
01:05 |
After finishing this you can continue with creating the files.
01:12 |
We will use the default output settings in this case.
01:20 |
In the preview you will see the measures are displayed according to the jumps we specified.
01:31 |
This means you never have to turn multiple pages for DS, DC and repeats. We hope this helps you playing without these distractions.
